Suzanne Bruns of Prairieland Quilts taught a class at this years Project Linus Annual Conference in Bloomington, IL. Held June 18th & 19th, this is the 2nd year that Suzanne has taught the nation wide attendees. Project Linus provides blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”
Prairieland Quilts has been a long time supporter of Project Linus and carries a large selection of Project Linus fabrics. Additionally, Prairieland Quilts recieved a national award for their contributions in the past. The Champaign / Urbana Neighborhood, Peoria Chapter of the American Sewing Guild met at Prairieland Quilts on April 2, 2014. The meeting was attended by 23 avid sewing enthusiasts. Following a short business meeting, show and tell was held where the latest projects were discussed.
Suzanne Bruns of Prairieland Quilts gave a presentation on purses that can be made. Showing over 20 different bags and purses, Suzanne showed how to add embroidery and other embellishments to their projects.
John Bruns was asked to share a little about his dad’s WWII Diary project found at 70yearsago.com. He include background about the project and that it was featured on the WCIA channel 3 news.
A door prize was give by Prairieland Quilts and then the attendees had lunch across the street at the Cissna Park Family restaurant.
